| In conjunction with the annual press conference held at the ITB in Berlin, Germany, the organization has, for the fourth consecutive year since 2003, awarded the "Royal Spas of Europe Prize" for distinguished journalistic services for the exemplary coverage of the royal offerings by the organization. The recipient of this year's "Royal Spa Award" is Gabi Novak-Oster, who has been an editor and freelance journalist in the Rhine district of Germany for many years. Mrs. Novak-Oster, who originates from Northern Germany, was an editor of the Rhein-Zeitung in Koblenz, Germany, for almost 33 years. Following her activities in the various local editing staffs, she assumed managerial responsibility for the local Lahnstein edition for 5 years before becoming an editor of the Journal. In this position she was responsible for the weekend edition of the Rhein-Zeitung for many years. Her carefully researched reports focused on nearly all aspects of life, both the positive experiences as well as the sad ones. In 1992 the author was bestowed the prestigious "Theodor-Wolff-Prize" by the German Association of Newspaper Publishers for her touching and heart-felt reports about a sexually-related murder. Mrs. Novak-Oster has also published a wide range of articles about travel, dining, leisure activities and wellness. During the research phase of her work concerning the "Royal Spas of Europe", the author was fascinated by the demand for perfection by the spas, their colorful history, which is not only being carefully maintained into the present, but which also fills visionary dreams for the future. A European network has been organized that fosters the highest possible level of quality and comfort. "It seems that many health spas didn't read the writing on the wall and now they are missing the years of plenty. The 'Royal Spas', on the other hand, is consciously building on its rich heritage and thereby sees a real opportunity for the future, both for our guests and the operators of the spas. “I wanted to publicly emphasize precisely this ambition in my reports", explains the award winner. The fact that she was successful is now being recognized and confirmed through the awarding of the "Royal Spas Award 2006". Well-versed and professional journalistic handling of the continuously changing and expanding wellness market, along with the range of offerings available in that market, has received deserved recognition through the granting of this award. It is a well known fact within the "Royal Spas" that the best quality available is of little value when only few people are aware of what is being offered. "The wide range of wellness service suppliers is dependent upon fair and factual reporting by the journalistic community," Rainer Mertel, Spa Director in Bad Neuenahr, Germany, and Chairman of the organization recently stated. For this reason, high quality reporting is seen as a important communicative tool for the industry. This is why journalists are often - and gladly - taken "behind the scenes" to give them a first-hand look at the facilities. Ultimately the members of the royal squad are proud their high standards in the rapidly expanding wellness market offer a solid orientation. Each and every "Royal Spa" looks back upon its royal roots and was included in the list of preferred spas of their blue-blooded guests. But a royal ancestry along is not sufficient to be permitted membership in this illustrious club. The exclusive criteria, placed upon the "Royal Spas" by their own doing, are laid down in a list of very strict rules, to which the spas must adhere. Among these are fitness and health facilities of the high possible quality, an elegant atmosphere, first-class service, magnificent thermal grounds and facilities and the use of medicinal substances which are typical of the region.
