Bayreuth knows what it ows to the most famous amongst its former inhabitants: also this summer Bayreuth is going to become a Mekka for music enthusiasts from all over the world. Everybody who wants to allow relaxation to body and soul and to profit from musical highlights at the same time is most welcome. The comfort oasis of Lohengrin Therme (Spa) is always worthwhile visiting.
The Golf Club Bayreuth N.G.O. has created an innovative combination of sports and music, and the motto is “Golf meets Wagner”. In cooperation with the pianist and Wagner-expert Stefan Mickisch the Golf Club offers the possibility to listen to the music of Richard Wagner while playing golf. Pure pleasure while “putting and holing” on the 18-holes-championship facility at “Rodersberg”! At the beginning of their course visitors can rent a MP3-player with one-way earphones at the office – without charge, of course. The MP3-player provides 18 pieces of music for 18 different courses. Each visitor can decide for how long he/she wants to listen. And what about those who want to take their time? No problem at all! Each of the single titles will last long enough – even for the slowest golfers. But it is not just music that is offered to the visitors! At the beginning of each course the narrator Mickisch points out some highlights of Bayreuth and its surroundings (such as the Eremitage, the Festival House, the Lohengrin Spa, and others). In addition he combines these elements with the music of Richard Wagner in an adapted sound bend. So the visitors don´t just get an impression of Wagner´s operas, but, besides get to know a lot about the festival town and its landscape. Stefan Mickisch has already gained cult status with his introducing talks into all performances of the Wagner Festival. More than 10,000 vistors go to see his 30 matinees at the big parish hall of the "Evangelisches Bildungswerk" in Bayreuth annually. The reason for Mickisch´s success is his profound knowledge which is combined with outstanding pianist abilities and a good sense of humour.
