| At a celebration for the 100th German Meeting on Spas in the "Brenners Park Hotel & Spa" in Baden-Baden, the journalist and publisher of the "Savoir-Vivre" magazine, Ulrich Metzner, was awarded the journalist prize of the "Royal Spas of Europe". Baden-Baden is one of the nine members in the illustrious club of the "Royal Spas". These spa resorts in different European countries feel obliged even today to their royal traditions and have imposed strict quality criteria. Where once Emperors, Kings and heads of state found high-class and stylish relaxation and looked after their health, modern spa guests can have themselves spoilt truly royally today. Noble thermal springs, first-class fitness and health facilities and an all together elegant and supreme ambient distinguish each of the royal spas. With the journalist prize, the "Royal Spas Award", which was awarded this year for the second time, the "Royal Spas of Europe" honour extraordinary and special journalistic works within the frame-work of reporting about the royal offers of the "Royal Spas of Europe". Journalistic work should be recognised which concerns itself expertly with the constantly expanding market of tourist spa offers. "The broad world of constantly growing spa services is dependent on knowledgeable journalistic agents", is the ascertainment of Rainer Mertel, the Director of the Bad Neuenahr spa and the chairman of the organisation. He then substantiated this year's prize-winner decision: "with this prize, we wish to make clear that the outstanding quality of the offer and the particular quality of the reporting is one and the same for us. We are therefore most pleased to have found Ulrich Metzner as a journalist whose meticulous manner of working earns this honourable recognition". Ulrich Metzner, born in 1941 in Bischofswerda, is a full-blooded journalist. As a trained daily-newspaper editor, he spent his years of travel and learning with various daily newspapers, magazines and publishing companies between Hamburg and Munich, as, amongst other things, the editor-in-chief of a women's magazine. In 1985, he took over editorial responsibility for the noble magazine "VIF Gourmet-Journal" which is published by the Munich Atlas Publishing Company. At present, he is the publisher and editor-in-chief of the "bon-vivant" magazine "Savoir Vivre". Born under the sign of Scorpio, the Hemingway fan is himself also a demanding "bon-vivant" and thus a guarantor for well-founded information presented at the same time entertainingly and only after solid and professional research. Readers with high expectations can rely on him. In the club of the "Royal Spa" an article about the royal spas which appeared in "Savoir Vivre" - February/March edition 2004" was estimated particularly highly. The "Royal Spas Award 2004" was presented by Her Highness Maria-Josepha Countess von Hardenberg. As, for example, Archduke Johann von Habsburg-Lothringen for the Royal Spa "Bad Ischl" or Gabriela Princess of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn for "Bad Neuenahr", she is responsible with her name as the patroness for the outstanding quality of the spa and health offers of the Royal Spa of "Baden-Baden". |
