| Numerous deserving citizens have already been honored and represented by rose bushes which were dedicated to them and planted in the Bad Neuenahr Spa Gardens by the public limited company Bad Neuenahr. Now the time has come for an esteemed member of the church to pay reverence through the public limited company Bad Neuenahr. Abbot Benedict Muentnich from the monastery Maria Laach took shovel in hand on Thursday, 27 October 2005, and himself planted the rose bush with the name “Gloria Dei”. The bush will already pay honor to its name in the coming year, when aromatic yellow buds with a pink outside edge will appear. These beautiful flowers will serve as praise to the Lord’s creation and serve as spiritual enlightenment to the visitors of the Spa Gardens. ”Bad Neuenahr and the Monastery Maria Laach are two very meaningful establishments in the region,” Spa Director Rainer Mertel said in symbolically linking the monastery at Laacher Lake to the Spa Center Bad Neuenahr. “Maria Laach is representative of purification of the soul, while Bad Neuenahr stands for the healthy condition of the body. Aside from this symbolic relationship, the fango material used in the Bad Neuenahr "symphony for the senses" is unlike any other found worldwide and comes from a volcanic source which is located very close to the monastery.” ”We have been taking care of our friendly relationship for many, many years and we will certainly cooperate with one another in planning the big upcoming event, the 150th anniversary of the spa in the year 2008. This event will certainly give us a reason to celebrate”, the Abbot and the Spa Director agreed. | ||||||||
