Bad Wildungen is one of the picturesque towns along the German Tudor Trail. Wandering through the old streets and alleyways makes the past of the chic and historical spa come back to life. The Gothic Stadtkirche (town church, a three-bay hall church dating back to the 14th century) hides a special art treasure: the famous altarpiece by Conrad von Soest from the year 1403. It shows scenes from the life of Jesus. If you look carefully, you can even discover the first depiction of a pair of glasses on this gloriously colourful work of art. An extensive cultural programme of events has been put together for the 600-year jubilee of the Wildungen altarpiece: in an "Hommage to Conrad von Soest", an attempt at graphical-artistic access was made (exhibition open on 18.10.2003). Musical celebrations with Philipp Nicolai and Johann Sebastian Bach has take place on 14.12.2003. In the series of concerts "Bad Wildungen Classic", ensembles and choirs with an international reputation have been engaged for concerts in 2004: Prof. Ludwig Güttler will be the guest in the Kursaal on 27th June with the Virtuosi Saxoniae, on 2nd October "German Brass" will perform in the Kursaal concert room at the Reinhard Spring in Bad Wildungen-Reinhardshausen. One special highlight promised by the event organisers is the concert by the "Russian Chamber Philharmonics St. Petersburg" in the Stadtkirche on 12th December 2004.

"Back to the future" with water

The history of Bad Wildungen and Reinhardshausen is closely connected with the use of the healthy spring water; as early as the Middle Ages there were spa guests in Bad Wildungen, which was known beyond regional borders even at that time for its healing waters.
