During her two day visit to Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Thai princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn also visited the Health- and Wellness-Resort "Symphony of the Senses" in the heart of spa town Bad Neuenahr. General manager Rainer Mertel took the honorable guest on a tour through the thermal bathing house and explained to her the particularities of a modern spa in today's Germany. The 52-year-old princess was a very alert and interested listener. She is known to use her travels to widen her knowledge and then apply it for the benefit of her country.

Princess Sirindhorn was born on april 2nd 1955 and is the third child of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand and his wife Sirikit. She is considered to be her father's closest and most intellectual adviser.

In 1974, the Thai constitution was altered to allow female succession to the throne and since then princess Sirindhorn is second in line after her elder brother, prince Vajiralongkon. Her elder sister is married in the United States and lost her claim to the throne when she wedded an American citizen. Princess Sirindhorn speaks several languages, obtained a number of university degrees and is very much liked by the Thai people. In admiration the Thais named her "Princess of Technology", because she shows keen interest in all scientific topics and keeps up with new discoveries, developments and inventions. Rainer Mertel explained to her, how the "Symphony of the Senses" aquired a good reputation with health- and quality conscious people by offering preventive medicine and wellness at highest standards.

The name is programme as well, because with each treatment the guest enjoys a truly enhancing and harmonic "Symphony of the Senses". It starts as soon as one steps into the subtle luxury of the elegant Jugendstil thermal bathing house. Soft music, unobtrusive scents and crafty lighting transfer the guest out of everyday life right into a universe of wellbeing, where the trained wellness-experts take charge. To satisfy the high quality standards, everybody who works here undergoes further training regularly.

The experts in Bad Neuenahr are steadily working on new treatment-arrangements to satisfy the visitor's desire for health, fitness and wellbeing.

The "Symphony of the Senses" is dedicated to a philosophy, which combines old wisdom and modern knowledge to develope new and effective treatments; a fact, which very much interested the Thai princess.

The famous thermal water is used in many applications in the "Symphony of the Senses" and plays a dominant part in the spa town Bad Neuenahr. This was demonstrated by a visit to the geysir, which shoots a water fountain 17 metres high and is named "Großer Sprudel", and to the magnificent water-resort "Ahr-Thermen", located just a few steps from the thermal bathing house. It was the healing Bad Neuenahr thermal water which turned a small settlement into a spa town 150 years ago. Still today the "Symphony of the Senses" uses the beneficial water in many ways. For example, in combination with Fango mud from the nearby lake "Laacher See" and various herbs, to create the unique "Bad Neuenahrer Kräuterfango". The princess was surprised to hear, that the Share-Stock Company Bad Neuenahr is holding an European patent for "Kräuterfango" (herbal fango mud).

Fine red wine, grapes, prime vinegar, grape-brandy and many other natural treasures and products of the region are used as basic ingredients for various wellness-and beauty-treatments in the "Symphony of the Senses". General manager and spa-director Rainer Mertel emphasized: "The utilization of natural products from the local region is our trade-mark."

When it was time to say good-bye, princess Sirindhorn expressed her regret because her stay had been so short. The spa-director invited the princess to repeat her visit. He said that he was very pleased because a member of a ruling Royal Family gave him the honor of visiting the "Royal Spa" Bad Neuenahr.

The new catalogue 2008 of the "Symphony of the Sense" offers a huge variety of combinations and all-inklusive arrangements for a "royal" fitness-and wellness experience in Bad Neuenahr.
