The three weekends before Christmas and the weekend between Christmas and New Year are an extra special time to visit Bad Neuenahr - Christmas illuminations (Uferlichter) line the river Ahr from Friday to Sunday. Tasteful light installations bathe the bridge and the riverbank in a magical, mystical glow. Kurgartenstrasse, which runs in front of the Steigenberger Hotel, and the spa gardens are also subtly illuminated. Chefs serve all kinds of culinary creations in a series of pagoda marquees along with delicious mulled wine prepared to their own, special recipes using local Ahr wine. The 2007 Riverbank Illuminations can be enjoyed on the three weekends before Christmas and the weekend between Christmas and New Year (27 to 29 December) from 4pm on Fridays and from 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
