Royal Spa Baden-Baden gains „Five Star Diamond Award“
The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences was founded in 1989. It has since conferred some 1,400 special achievement awards upon hotels, restaurants, airlines, cruise ships and other institutions relevant to tourism as well as upon personalities who over a prolonged period have rendered outstanding services to the hotel and catering trade.
In the recent past the Academy for several years in a row made awards to Brenner’s Park-Hotel & Spa and the Baden-Baden casino. Richard Schmitz, for several decades Managing Director of Baden-Baden’s foremost hotel, and chef de cuisine Albert Kellner were already presented with the Five Star Diamond Award in the spring of year 2002.
During the ceremony, Vittorio Gai, General Manager of the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, pointed to the exceptionally high standard of the facilities in Baden-Baden and referred in particular to the unique ambience, exclusiveness, hospitality and the outstanding service. “It is the excellence of what is being offered that has persuaded the Academy to make its award.”
The award was presented during a festive ceremony at the Baden-Baden Town Hall to Dr. Sigrun Lang, the mayoress, and to Brigitte Goertz-Meissner, managing director of Baden-Baden Kur & Tourismus GmbH.
By conferring the “Five Star Diamond Award” upon Baden-Baden as the first town worldwide “a highly fastidious standard of quality is being laid down which other destinations will now need to live up to in the future – no mean feat“ according to Vittorio Gai.
