This summer, a very special concert season celebrates its premiere. For the first time the “Philharmonic Castle Concerts” will take place on June, 27th and 28th at the castle Neuweier, beautifully located amidst the “Rebland”, the vineyards of Baden-Baden. In the romantic courtyard of the castle, the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra will entertain and inspire the audience with top-class classical music. A further performance of the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra is planned for Saturday, 2nd of August beneath special illuminated giant trees of the “Lichtentaler Allee”– an extraordinary highlight which you should not miss.

From July, 5th until October, 26th the Museum Frieder Burda shows the exhibition “Sculptures by painters” with more than 150 works of art of Edgar Degas, Paul Gauguin, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Max Beckmann, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, Max Ernst, and Georg Baselitz. By directly comparing their paintings with their sculptural works, the exhibition in Baden-Baden discloses fascinating relationships and illuminating insight into the artists’ working processes.

From July, 11th until 13th, the 32nd International Oldtimer-Meeting invites experts, lovers and sightseers to one of Germanys most beautiful Oldtimer-Meetings. As much as in previous years the 350 fantastic sparkling vehicles of all kind of brands and classes create the greatest automobile open-air museum in Europe. The grand meeting is taking place in front of the magnificent scenery of the “Kurhaus”, the “Trinkhalle” and the “Kaiserallee”, which will be illuminated at nightfall by many hundred lampions.

Whereas in July lightening chrome and high gloss polished veteran cars determine the scenery in front of the “Kurhaus”, the “Kurgarten” changes from August, 29th until September, 7th into a “culinary mile”. On the occasion of the traditional “Kurpark-Meeting”, taking place at the same time as the International Horse Races of the “Grand Week” at the racecourse Iffezheim/Baden-Baden, master chefs and winegrowers provide regional fancy food and famous specialities from the region of Baden. Don’t be surprised, here you will meet well-known stars, horse breeders and society beauties.

Moreover the year 2008 is characterized by an important anniversary: 150 years ago the first International Races took place in Iffezheim on the outskirts of Baden-Baden. During the “Grand week” from August, 30th until September, 7th this anniversary will be celebrated extensively. After the big opening party with fireworks and live music on August, 29th the following Saturday, September, 6th a fabulous feast will be celebrated within the “Grand Prix Ball” in the elegant “Benazet”- hall of the Kurhaus. A famous big band and a versed orchestra will provide first-class entertainment and a widespread music repertoire. Special highlights are the big show program, the musical firework as well as the culinary finesse of Michelin-decorated chef Martin Herrmann, who will create the Grand Prix-Dinner.

During the International Horse Racing Festivals flat-racing and glamour, exciting thoroughbreds and society beauties, fun and suspense right up to the finish line are in the main focus as every year. The highlight of one exciting week full of suspense will be the bestowal of the Grand Award of Baden on Sunday, November, 7th.
