| This summer, a very special concert season has its premiere – the “Klingende Gärten” (tingling gardens). By nightfall, the impressive parkway of the elegant spa town shows itself as open-air stage of the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra. The prelude of the open-air event are concerts in the rosariums: Saturday, 16th of June and Sunday, 17th of June at the “Rosenneuheitengarten Beutig” (rosarium of novelties) and Saturday, 23rd of June and Sunday, 24th of June in the “Gönneranlage”. Further performances of the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra are planned for Sunday, 8th of July in the “Kurgarten”, Friday 13th of July in the garden of the Brenner´s Park-Hotel & Spa and Saturday, 4th of August, beneath special illuminated giant trees of the “Lichtentaler Allee” at the Museum Frieder Burda – an extra ordinary highlight which you should not miss. From 25th of May until 7th of October 2007 the museum Frieder Burda shows the most famous works of the collection Erich Marx with drawings from Warhol, Rauschenberg, Lichtenstein, Twombly and Kiefer. The exhibition mainly focuses on paintings of Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg and Roy Lichtenstein, which occupy a central position within the pop-art-scene. This summer not only the international elite of horse racing meet at the racecourse Iffezheim/Baden-Baden but also world famous celebrities of the music scene. On 8th of July, Elton John expects you at the racecourse with his exclusive open-air concert in Germany. Likewise Lionel Richie presents during his “summer 2007” tour on 13th of July 2007 an unique and unforgettable program including famous hits, beautiful ballads and new songs. On July 15th, just a few days later, the same stage is the setting for the stunning show of Bryan Adams. From 12th until 15th of July, the 31st International Oldtimer-Meeting invites experts, lovers and sightseers to “Germanys most beautiful Oldtimer-Meeting”. As much as in previous years the 350 fantastic sparkling vehicles of all kinds of brands and classes create the greatest automobile open-air museum in Europe. The grand meeting takes place at the “Kurpark” and the “Kaiserallee”, which are illuminated at nightfall by many hundred lanterns. Whereas in July lightening chrome and high gloss polished Oldtimers determine the scenery in front of the “Kurhaus”, the “Kurgarten” changes from 25th of August until 3rd of September into a “culinary mile”. On the occasion of the traditional “Kurpark-Meeting”, taking place at the same time as the horse races of the “Grand Week” at the racecourse Iffezheim/Baden-Baden, master chefs and winegrowers provide regional fancy food and famous specialities from the region of Baden. Don’t be surprised, here you meet well-known stars, horse breeders and society beauties. Further big celebrations are planned from 7th of September until 9th of September, on the occasion of the anniversary “500 years city order”. During the historic “Altstadtfest” (Old Town Festival), Baden-Baden becomes for three days the location of a medieval spectacle. On program are fighting knights, case-laws and executions, performances of jugglers, leather trousers shootings, medieval handcrafts around the marketplace and exciting fights of roman gladiators close to the thermae. The colourful hustle and bustle gets accompanied by music, folklore and dancing choruses, finally ending in a spectacular fire show at the marketplace on Sunday evening. |
