From 24th to 26th April 2004, in Baden-Baden spa directors, doctors, scientists, tourist specialists as well as representatives from politics and the health system will be holding the annual conference of the German Meeting on Spas. For the 100th jubilee, the Conference will be held under the motto “Therapeutic Baths and Spas in Europe”. Representatives from European therapeutic baths are expected as well as national guests. A total of approx. 500 participants is expected. Spa medicine in Europe will be discussed in a separate seminar.

The “Royal Spas of Europe” – alongside Baden-Baden another eight “imperial baths” – will also hold their general meeting together with their meeting of the board during the German Meeting on Spas in Baden-Baden and, in the exclusive surroundings of the Brenner Park Hotel, will award the “Royal Spa Award 2004”.

Accompanying the 100th German Meeting on Spas, the Baden-Baden specialist exhibitions will present “AquaAqua” in the steam bath, undertaking the attempt of making “water and art” a living experience. With their works, leading German contemporary artists include water as a bearing element of design in their artistic compositions and have partly structured whole rooms with their fountains. “Baden-Baden Thermal Water from the Geological Viewpoint” will be presented in a further exhibition in the Renaissance rooms of the Friedrich Bath.

Within the framework of the German Meeting on Spas, AIMS (AquaEvidence In Medicine & SportScience) - an association of doctors, scientists, university clinics and therapeutic baths - will also meet for their annual conference. High-ranking national and international personalities will speak amongst other things on the topics: “Physiology of Aqua Therapy” and “Increasing the Attractiveness of Health and Therapeutic Baths”.

Baden-Baden in April shows itself from its most beautiful aspect. Framed-in by the foothills of the Black Forest Mountains, the spring shows itself here earlier than in other places. On the heights, the last remains of snow are thawing - in Baden-Baden an irresistible luxuriance of blossom unfolds punctually for the German Meeting on Spas in the Spa gardens and along the world-famous Lichtentaler Allee. Millions of crocuses, primroses and narcissuses as far as the eye can see – in an opulent botanical garden, partly with exotic vegetation.

Baden-Baden is holding the German Meeting on Spas for the seventh time already. The 100th jubilee should provide the participants and guests with, alongside the specialist discussions, sufficient time to be able to get to know the beauties and the charm of this international spa and festival town.

There will be a get-together, for example, in the legendary “Medici” where, at the beginning of the year Kofi Annan received the German Media Award from the Baden-Baden media entrepreneur, Karlheinz Kögel. In the historical rooms of the International Club – which holds the International Race Meeting each year – the participants will meet for a “race whispering”. And at the big gala evening in the Bénazet Hall of the Spa House – one of the loveliest ballrooms in Germany – there will still be time for celebration after so many expert discussions.
